Tom Cruise makes my thetans tingle

I’m no fan of “organized” religions by any stretch. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists… they all astound me in the faith they have for something that for all intents and purposes doesn’t exist but for the fact that they will it to.

What further astounds me are the things that are and have been done under the name of “religious right”.

However, though not having led to any holy wars that I know of, by far the “religion” that makes me bang my head against my desk more so than any other, even more than the Mor[m]ons, is Scientology.

So, when a buddy of mine sent me this link to a Tom Cruise infomercial on Scientology, I just couldn’t not post it.

Also included in the link was a comment from a 30-year veteran of Scientology that was nice enough to offer some explanation to the nutzo terminology Cruise is using:

  • KSW (short for Keeping Scientology Working): A policy written by Hubbard in the 1960’s that requires all Scientologists to follow his words and his rules exactly.
  • Orgs: Orgs is an abbreviation for “organizations” and describes all churches of Scientology throughout the world.
  • David Miscavige: He is the current leader of Scientology. He’s the equivalent of the Pope to the Catholics.
  • Out-ethics: any behavior that violates any of Hubbard’s rules of conduct.
  • Put ethics in on someone else: make others conform to Hubbard’s rules of behavior.
  • Criminon: Scientology front group that tries to recruit through the prisons.
  • SP: Suppressive Person. Anyone that doesn’t like Scientology and/or criticizes Scientology.
  • PTS/SP: another bogus Hubbard term to define behavior that goesagainst Scientology rules.
  • LRH technology or “tech”: all the Scientology policies, rules, mandates, procedures.

And, always eager to tie things in with China – why not read up on China’s version of Scientology. Sure they’re persecuted. Hell, who hasn’t bought an organ or two of theirs on the black market. And I feel for them, I really do. But man, whack jobs are whack jobs.

  1. So you’re telling me you don’t believe the source of all our mental and emotional problems are the troubled spirits of people who were transported across space 75 million years ago in Douglas DC8 planes by an evil intergalactic mastermind named Xenu and who were then blow up by the afore mentioned Xenu in massive volcanic explosions?

    What are you smoking?

  2. What he says is annoying enough (though ludicrous) but what makes it so much worse is his tone of unshakeable conviction and smug superiority. And the way he ends some of his banal obtuse pronouncements with “Period” makes me want to upturn a bucket of slurry over his head. “What I’m trying to say is that if you’re in then you’re in. Period.” etc etc

And what did he mean I wonder when he said that he wants to “get rid of the spectators”?

    Cruise is creepy.

  3. @Kim: nuts even.

    @Thea: Ok, you’re crazy. 😛

It could only be fake in so far as it could have been a lot longer, with someone having stitched together just the craziest parts to make it even crazier out of whatever little context it originally had.

Regardless, it’s definitely Tom saying those things, it’s definitely one interview (as opposed to just random press clips)… I don’t see how it could be fabricated.

  4. “Some people, well, if they don’t like Scientology, well, then, fuck you. Really. Fuck you. Period.”

a nice Cruise quote from the link you gave

  5. The thriving cult of greed and power..
“By all appearances, Noah Lottick of Kingston, Pa., had been a normal, happy 24-year-old who was looking for his place in the world. On the day last June when his parents drove to New York City to claim his body, they were nearly catatonic with grief. The young Russian-studies scholar had jumped from a 10th-floor window of the Milford Plaza Hotel and bounced off the hood of a stretch limousine. When the police arrived, his fingers were still clutching $171 in cash, virtually the only money he hadn’t yet turned over to the Church of Scientology, the self-help “philosophy” group he had discovered just seven months earlier.”

Its a sad sad world out there…

  6. Cruise have become a real nutjob the last years. No doubt because of the creepy cult. Sad to see someone who has/had potential to become one of the truly greatest actors mess his future up this way. Difficult to take him seriously anymore. The man needs help.
