Tenacious Me!

Alright, this is got NOTHING to do with China, but it has everything to do with Jack Black – and surely China needs to appreciate JB a bit more. As do the rest of you!

I've been a fan of JB since seeing High Fidelity a few years ago, but I didn't KNOW JB until I went home to Canada this summer and was introduced to The D by my buddy Scott (who, incidentally, introduced me to Penn & Teller's Bullshit as well). Basically Scott showed me a few episodes of the Tenacious D TV show. It was hilarious. I became a fan.

So, it is with much anticipation that I am hoping someone in the Great Pirate DVD Ring deems the new D movie, Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny, worthy of copying. Via a PPP opportunity, of all things, I just learned of this cool Maxim interview with the duo. Man, I can't wait to see this movie. If I was a rockstar, I'd be JB… and if I was bald, I'd be KG!

If you doubt the D, check out the trailer for their movie, and doubt no more:

Oh, and for anyone that finds this sort of thing interesting – Jack Black has got to be one of the most seen but not seen famous actors in Hollywood. Before the break with High Fidelity, and his relative fame with School of Rock, he appeared in a bazillion films, including: Demolition Man, Waterworld, The Cable Guy, Dead Man Walking, Bio-Dome (as Tenacious D), Mars Attacks!, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer and Enemy of the State.

  1. I saw The Pick of Destiny last week, and while it was definitely funny, and definitely worth the 5 kuai you’ll probably pay for it, I don’t think it quite lived up to the expectations I had after seeing the trailer in which the D first meet at Venice Beach (not sure if that’s the trailer you’ve got on here – I can’t see it for some reason).

    Anyway, you can see some clips of the movie at the official site – http://tenaciousdmovie.com/
    It’s definitely got some classic moments.

    An awesome caricature of JB by the great Jason Seiler – http://jasonseilerillustration.blogspot.com/2006/11/jack-black.html

    And a rather less awesome one by me! – http://www.drawmyface.co.uk/jack-black.aspx

    Can I put links in comments, or will they be caught by the meat-in-a-can filter? One way to find out!

  2. I was quite disappointed.

    It’s no way near as good as Nacho Libre!

    But it’s better than School of Rock (although that’s not saying much).

  3. Not as good as Nacho Libre?

    Let me guess…if it weren’t for your horse, you wouldn’t have spent that year in college, right?

    {brain explodes}
