Football Fever

So, it’s day… something… of the World Cup, and I’ve managed to watch an entire two and a half minutes of a game. The Do-I-Support-Korea game that I was going to watch up in Kaifaqu (on the big screen in the square) was rained out for me – but not for the swarm of Koreans that got segregated in a fenced-off area (for everyone’s protection I’m sure) – off limits to other foreigners.

Anyway, my lack of viewing time shouldn’t be construed as meaning I haven’t been following the endless amounts of other people talking about the World Cup on various blogs.

Here are two links I found particularly good. And just so I’m not labelled some porn-watching sexist.. there’s technically more male nudity in the second one than there is female in the first.

For the boys: Chinese Soccer Babes

For the ladies (and anyone that loves a good laugh): Streakers of the World

I can’t really imagine what it would take me to strip down and run naked around the pitch dodging men that you KNOW can out run you, wear spikes on the bottom of their shoes and can kick your danglies to another country.

Just to keep the record straight… I’m not, as you might guess, a regular visitor to Asian-Sirens.com. In fact, I had not bookma… ah… heard of it until today.

  1. Right, so maybe it’s a little goofy to be the first to comment on my own post, but I don’t want to start a new post just about football…

Watched Argentina kick the pants off the Serbs (and Montenegro of course, though I’m betting the newly independent country is denying involvement in the loss) last night. First official WC match I’ve watched in my life and I put my bets on the winners… yay.

6-0. Geesus. Guess flying Maradona in brought with it some moral. Even with the Serbs being rougher on the pitch, Argentina had a lot of flare in the game. That second goal was just great. Will be interesting to see how far these guys go.

  2. I hope you didn’t have the misfortune to watch England vs. Trinidad & Tobago (or England vs. Paraguay for that matter)… two of the worst performances by our team for a long time. Oh well, we always perform badly against (theoretically) rubbish teams… we always play better against the big boys (keep telling yourself that Tom, you might just believe it).

Oh well, I’m still confident we’re gonna win the cup! Just as long as Sven gets some bollocks and decides to play Gerrard in his rightful attacking midfield role… I should be England manager…

  3. @Kate: Ummm… I’m not sure your meaning.

@Tom: Missed them both. I really must look into whether or not I’ve any channels on my TV. The thing has never been off the “Video” setting, as I only use it to watch DVDs, and as I just bought Season II of Lost and Season I of Firefly… football is going to have some tough competition.

@Chicano: 😉 mei wen ti wo de peng you.
